Osun Education Commissioner Dipo Eluwole Commissions Sports facilities initiated by SLOSA 83′ set, Says Government alone cannot finance Education (Details in Photos)

Osun State Commissioner for Education, Honourable Adedipo Eluwole today commissioned Sport Facilities donated by the 1983 set of St Lawrence’s Grammar School Old Students Association on Saturday in Ilesa.

Speaking during the event, Honourable Eluwole congratulated and appreciated the Old Students of St Lawrence’s Grammar School, Ilesa for the giant strides taken in giving back to their Alma Mater stressing that financing of education requires concerted efforts from Stakeholders comprising of the government, Parents, Teachers, Students, Private Sectors, Alumni Associations and Philanthropists.

“Education they say is the key to development and education is life, any nation that plays with the education of her citizens is damaging the life of its citizens and such a nation is preparing for her doom.”

This tells us that education is very important and needs adequate attention which government alone cannot face. With this believe, financing of education is the duty of all stakeholders in education sector, the government, Parents, Teachers, Students themselves, Private Sectors, Old Students Association and Philanthropists, it must be holistically taken care of.

With this assertions, I want to appreciate and congratulate the Old Students of St Lawrence’s Grammar School, Ilesa, for this giant stride in giving back to their Alma-mater, thank you very much.”

He charged them not to rest on their oars and put more efforts on making positive impacts on the development of their Alma Mater.

The National President of St Lawrence’s Old Students Association, Engineer Lawrence Aluko described the 1983 set as ambitious, courageous and goal getters, saying they are always at the forefront of Infrastructural development at St Lawrence’s Grammar School, Ilesa.

He specifically commended them for the donation of Sport Facilities to the school.

“What an ambitious, courageous and goal getter set of laurentians! The 1983 set are always in the forefront of Infrastructural development at our Alma Mater Conceiving and donating these sport facilities to mark your 40th thanksgiving and reunion of your set is appreciated by SLOSA members worldwide.

We are proud of your interventions and selflessness service to humanity”

In his remark, The Immediate Past National President of SLOSA Alhaji Dr Adebayo Jimoh noted that the 1983 set is a unique set with a mission to give back to their Alma Mater from what God has endowed to them in their various professions.

“The 1983 set, to me is a very unique set with a mission give back to their Alma Mater from what God has endowed to them in their various professional callings.”

He recalled the support of the set during his tenure as National President, notable among them is the donation of Famoyin Hall to St Lawrence’s Grammar School.

“I remember with joy the support of this set during my tenure as the National President of SLOSA. It was during this period that they donated the Famoyin Hall to our school, I want to believe this hall has supported our school immensely.”

Dr Adebayo said with the donation of the Sports facilities to the school, the growth of sporting activities in the school will be enhanced.

“With today’s event of donation of some sports facilities and materials to our school, this will definitely enhance the growth of sporting activities in the school. Youth development can not be complete without the provision of recreational activities for the total development of the mind and body.”

In her Goodwill Message, The School Principal, Mrs Olusola Awe said St Lawrence’s Grammar School, Ilesa is on a new height to be showed to the whole world and be celebrated as a champion in academics and sports owing to the numerous donations made by the 1983 set of St Lawrence’s Grammar School Old Students.

She rejoiced and congratulated the planning committee of 1983 SLOSA and the general Body of SLOSA under the leadership of Engineer Lawrence Aluko.
