‘Exercise Patience’ Jehovah’s Witness Convention : Why patience is key in confronting society and life challenges

Patience has been described as a beautiful quality that Christians must possess and demonstrate in their daily lives.

This assertion was brought to the fore at the Regional Convention of Jehovah witnesses held at Ilerin-Ijesa with the theme “Let’s Exercise Patience” .

The gathering established that Christians must emulate the characters of Daniel, Jeremiah, Habakkuk and Job who demonstrated patience despite the challenges they faced.

Different Speakers at the Regional Convention are of the view that patience comes from a position of power as a person may have the ability to take revenge or cause trouble, but patience brings self-restraint and careful thinking Losing patience is a sign of weakness.

We are patient through trying situations out of hope for a coming deliverance; we are patient with a trying person out of compassion.

Speaking to Journalists during the program, The Convention Chairman, Mr Adewale Fakeye said the convention focused on the need for christians to cultivate the quality of patience amidst a world where people have little or no patience.

He said the quality of patience is desirable amidst biting economic stress, health challenges and interpersonal disconnect among friends, family and communities

“You will discover that the world we are living today is full of impatience, that is why we are experiencing a lot of problems all over the world.

“The focus of this convention is to tell us the need for us to be patient and most of the problems we are facing throughout the world today, there’s nothing we can do, Only Jehovah God can solve all these problems so what we need is to exercise patience, wait till the time that Jehovah will put an end to all human problems, so I believe that the teachings and instructions we have heard today will help us to endure till the time Jehovah will solve all our problems

The Major Highlight of the Convention Programme was the Public Bible-based discuss where the speaker, Brother Timothy Ajayi emphasised the need for christians to take advantage of God’s patience and remain confident that Jehovah will act on their behalf as long as they are in an approved relationship with him.

Some of the delegates including Sister Joseph Olayemi, Mr Timothy Ayodele, Mr Ayomide Aare and Miss Omotosho Olabisi who spoke in separate interviews could not hide their joy as they all shared their overview of the Regional Convention, describing it as a refreshing experience for all lovers of truth and all those who yearn for positive change in their lives

“This convention has helped me a lot to copy Jehovah who is the father of patience by obeying his rules and commandments and also to be patient with those around because we encounter different kinds of people in our daily lives”, said Mrs Joseph Olayemi.

Mr Timothy Ayodele said “This convention has been filled with so many spiritual lessons to be learnt especially as a family Head, when things are tough when the economy is not that good, I’ve learnt to be patient and keep calling on Jehovah and he will listen to us”
