Sanwo-Olu Takes Over As South-West Governors’ Forum Chairman

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has been appointed Chairman of the South-West Governors’ Forum, succeeding the late Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State, who passed away eight months ago.

Following a four-hour closed-door meeting at the Lagos House, Alausa, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced that the decision was unanimous among the six governors present.

The South-West Governors’ Forum reaffirmed its opposition to the Yoruba Nation agitation and expressed support for the new minimum wage, which will be announced by the Federal Government, emphasizing its alignment with true federalism.

Additionally, the Forum reiterated its commitment to state police, adopted “Ise Wa Fun Ile Wa” as its anthem, and urged President Bola Tinubu to expedite the rehabilitation of all federal roads nationwide. Governor Sanwo-Olu praised the federal lawmakers for the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission bill, aimed at bolstering economic growth and food security in the region, and called for its swift passage.

The meeting was attended by Governors Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, Senator Ademola Adeleke of Osun, and Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti.
